Welcome to the DBTH Charity Sponsored Skydive 2024!

We are thrilled to be hosting our sponsored skydive with Skydive Hibaldstow for a third year running!

Whether you want to fulfill a lifelong ambition, jump in memory of a loved one, or push yourself out of your comfort zone, we are here to help every ‘leap’ of the way.

We are delighted to be hosting our next skydive events in the summer and autumn of 2024.

Jumping from 15,000 ft and reaching a terminal velocity of 120mph, tandem skydiving allows you to experience the thrill of freefall skydiving without any extensive training. It is our most popular UK skydiving course!

After a short tandem briefing, you will jump harnessed to the front of a fully qualified parachuting instructor at 15,000ft. From this height, you will freefall 9,000 ft in just 60 seconds! The instructor will then deploy the parachute, and you get to enjoy approximately 10 minutes of beautiful views, including the Humber Bridge, as you slowly glide down the remaining 6,000 ft.

Paying in your funds

Use our handy form to pay in any remaining funds you have.

(Please note: funds donated via Just Giving come directly to us, so no need to worry about them!)

Are there any restrictions to take part?

All skydivers must complete a medical declaration in order to take part. This is in addition to meeting the following requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 16 years old (With parental consent for 16/17 on two specific documents)
  • Maximum Age: None (Subject to health)
  • Minimum Height: 147cm * (approx. 4ft10)

  • Maximum Weight: 100kg* (approx. 16st / 224lbs) – your weight in your own clothes and shoes

*Those under the minimum height and/or weight should arrive fifteen minutes early for a harness fitting.

In addition to overall weight, BMI can affect your ability to jump. We regret that those with a BMI of 39+ are not suitable. Those with a BMI of 35+ will be subject to assessment. Please contact Skydive Hibaldstow for further clarification and they will be happy to talk you through it.

Some medical conditions or injuries may prevent you from taking part. If you have any concerns regarding your physical or medical ability to take part, please consult your doctor. You should also advise us of any relevant conditions in advance, as well as letting your instructor know on the day. Asthmatics should take inhalers with them in the aircraft.

Any previous shoulder dislocations MUST be declared and discussed in advance.

If you have any enquires about your health and ability to take part, please contact info@skydiving.co.uk or 01652 648 837

How much does it cost?

To join us for this once in a lifetime experience, there is a £50 non refundable registration fee and we ask that you fundraise a minimum of £395 for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity.

Of the £395 you raise, £180 will pay for your skydive and the rest will come to us to use to fund improvements to patient services, research projects, new equipment and more.

Anything you raise above this amount is a bonus!

Self-funded option

We offer a self-funded option for the skydive at a cost of £180 to yourself. This is useful for those who are worried about meeting the minimum fundraising amount of £395.

By choosing the self-funded option, we ask that you instead fundraise a minimum £265 which will go directly towards helping us fund projects across our hospitals.

If you are interested in this option, please email dbth.charity@nhs.net for clarification on how to pay.

You must fundraise a minimum of £180 sponsorship two weeks before your Skydive day to guarantee your skydive. Your remaining sponsorship can be paid after your skydive. This applies to both self-funded and non-self-funded options.

Please note: cancellations within 7 days of jumping will incurr a £25 charge to be paid to Skydive Hibaldstow.

How will we support you?

Once you are registered, we will support you all the way up to and including the event itself. Not only will you receive your own charity t-shirt to wear on the day, as well as a DBTH Charity certificate, the individual skydiver who raises the most funds will also receive a FREE photo and video package as a keepsake.

Photo & Video packages can be purchased directly from Skydive Hibaldstow at an extra cost of £120 on the day or £99 in advance – please contact Skydive Hibaldstow to order your package.

We will also provide you with a digital fundraising pack filled with hints and tips on how to maximise your sponsorship and set up your JustGiving page.

Our Fundraising Team will be available to support your every ‘leap’ of the way and can also provide equipment such as collection tins, buckets and literature to support your fundraising efforts.

How will your support help us?

Here at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity, we are passionate about doing our bit to shape the future of the health service. Our goal is to fund projects which go ‘above and beyond’, aiding our colleagues in delivering outstanding care, above the limitations of the usual NHS budget.

The funds you help us raise make life-changing projects a reality. For example, our recently opened Serenity Suite is a calming space to care for families during the heartache of baby loss.

Your funds also contribute to improvement projects, such as this x-ray artwork, which helps distract nervous patients.

During the pandemic, our charitable funds were vital in supporting staff wellbeing projects, such as the introduction of the adorable Thunder the Therapy Dog!

This is just a selection of some of the incredible projects our charity has funded, enabled by the excellent fundraising efforts of our community.

Already arranged your own Skydive?

If you have already booked your own skydive and want to fundraise for us, then send an email to our Fundraising Team on dbth.charity@nhs.net to let us know. We’ll send you a t-shirt which you can wear on the day, showing your support for us!
