About our charity
About Us
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity is the official charity which supports Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital and Montagu Hospital to go above and beyond by providing additional equipment, services and amenities for our patients, visitors and staff which cannot be funded by the NHS alone.
From the small things like teddy bears for children spending the night at hospital, to equipment such as iPads so patients can keep in touch with their loved ones, to the cutting edge technology that detects deadly infections like meningitis and the flu.
These additional extras would not be possible without the support of our community and with your help we can continue to work hard with our Trust to fund innovative and exciting projects that really do make a difference to our patients, their families and our colleagues who care for them.
Our Vision
Our vision is to support Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals to be outstanding in all that they do, providing the additional support and resources needed, above and beyond what is expected, so Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals can provide the best possible care to people across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help our hospitals provide outstanding care to our surrounding communities, doing all that we can to enhance patient experience by transforming Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals care environments and hospital services and ensuring that colleagues are given the support they need so they can continue to provide the best possible care every single day.
We do this by working with colleagues to understand how to create a caring environment for all those who need us, improving our environment for both staff and patients, investing in staff development and caring for their mental health & wellbeing, purchasing the newest technology and funding life changing research.
We could not do any of this without the help of our community. The amazing fundraising efforts from our patients, families, carers, staff, friends and local community groups who have a connection to Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals we are able to make a real difference to patient care.
Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI)
DRI is a large acute hospital with over 500 beds, a 24-hour Emergency Department (ED), and trauma unit status. In addition to a full range of hospital care, it also provides some specialist services including vascular surgery. It has inpatient, day case and outpatient facilities.
Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop (BH)
BH is an acute hospital with over 170 beds, a 24-hour ED, and a full range of hospital services including a breast care unit and renal dialysis. It has inpatient, day case, and outpatient facilities.
Montagu Hospital in Mexborough
Montagu is a small non-acute hospital with over 50 inpatient beds for people who need further rehabilitation before they can be discharged. There is a nurse-led Minor Injuries Unit, open 9am-9pm, each and every day excluding Christmas. It also has a day surgery unit, renal dialysis, a chronic pain management unit and a wide range of outpatient clinics.
We also provide outpatient and other health services at Retford Hospital and Chequer Road Clinic, including clinical therapies, medical imaging, audiology and screening.
We established the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity in 2018 to allow the Trust to offer those extras that make a difference which cannot be covered by routine income. From large-scale projects such as the renovation or development of an area, to the smaller things that provide comfort, like a teddy for the young patient spending their first time away from home.
Your donations help us go above and beyond, making a huge impact for our patients, at a time when they need it most.
