Doncaster Knights spread Christmas cheer at Doncaster Children’s Ward

Patients at the Children’s Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary were treated to a special festive visit this week, as several members of the Doncaster Knights RFC brought Christmas gifts and smiles to the young patients.

The team’s visit on 8 December 2025 was filled with festive cheer and heartfelt interactions, as players handed out presents and spent time connecting with patients and their families, brightening the day for everyone on the ward.

Although many of the children were too unwell at the time of the visit to meet the team in person, the Knights’ thoughtful gifts ensured that everyone on the ward would still feel the joy and festive spirit of the visit.

Ashleigh Elam, Sister on the Children’s Ward, said: “It was brilliant to have the Knights visiting us.

“Their kindness and energy really lifted the spirits of our patients and staff alike.

“Visits like this, especially at what can be such a busy time of year, give us a moment of respite to enjoy the smiles on our patients’ faces.”

The Doncaster Knights have supported the Children’s Ward for many years, and the team are grateful for their ongoing generosity and commitment to brightening the lives of patients and families.

The Trust would like to thank the Doncaster Knights for their thoughtful gifts and for taking the time to bring joy to the children and their families this festive season.
